Welcome back to the Western Region Program Report.
Attention Bowling Teams
Many of you are getting ready to start your fall bowling season. Please make sure to submit an updated roster and any new/updated medical and consent forms.

Bowlathon
A bowlathon open to the public will be held on Sunday December 15 to benefit Special Olympics. This is a great opportunity to have fun and win some great prizes! Don't miss out- form your teams now to purchase a lane. The registration website and more details will become available soon.

State Games
Please wish all athletes and coaches that are participating at the State Games next weekend (October 3rd) good luck
*ALL coaches attending state games MUST have a current coach certification. If you are unsure of your status please contact me.
Applebees
Thank you to those that have already signed up to help with the Applebees fundraiser on October 28th. Please read below in the fundraising section for more details.
Bowling Training
BowlingIt has come to the attention of the Western Region that there are several bowling teams that need a bowling training provided.
If you need a bowling certification or know of others that need this training please let me know as soon as possible as we are in the process of planning a training day/time.
Save the Date
ATTENTION ALL COACHES, VOLUNTEERS AND FANS!
Please mark Saturday, December 5th on your calendar as the Winter Seasonal Conference is this day. The conference offers opportunities for both new and seasoned volunteers to receive training and also become re-certified.
Requests for which sport(s) to be offered are welcomed.
FUNDRAISERS
Applebees
It's back! The Applebees Law & Orders will take place on Wednesday, ab'sOctober 28th. The Applebees staff is always excited to work with the Law Enforcement Officials and put them to work to wait tables, greet customers, etc.
Our goal is to have at least one athlete at every participating Applebees location. The Law Enforcement Officials at each location look forward to meeting the athletes.
If you are interested in attending a certain Applebees with an athlete or know of an athlete to you feel would be a good host/hostess to greet customers, please contact me. Please pass along this information to athletes, parents, staff and volunteers.
Polar Plunge pplunge
The registration page is up and running! The 3rd Western Region Polar Plunge is being held Sunday, December 6th at the Hamburg Town Beach. We are hoping to make this year the most successful yet! On the registration page you can register yourself, your team or sponsor a plunger.

  • Please use the most current medical/consent form (both are on one page, not separate sheets). The form can be found on the online file folder or contact me
  • Uniform/Equipment requests are now available. If your team needs or may need new uniforms please fill out the request form and submit to the Western Region office.
  • Please contact me if you can use an extra hand and also help welcome new volunteers to the Special Olympics family.

Location: Thruway Lanes, Cheektowaga, NY
Date: November 15th from 3:00-5:00 PM
People will have the opportunity to purchase a lane, bowl for 2 hours and be eligible to win great prizes based on the person's/group's total fundraising amount.
