| SPECIAL OLYMPICS NEW YORK PROGRAM REPORT December 10, 2009 | | | | | Greetings Coaches, Volunteers and Fans! Welcome back to the Western Region Program Report. State Games Demand case surveys are due Monday the 14th! Please read in the upcoming events section for additional State Games information and deadlines. All paperwork can be found in the online file folder or by contacting me. Just a reminder- every training club should be turning in their rosters as soon as possible. We understand many teams start practicing at different times; rosters should be submitted to the Regional Office by the 3rd week of practice Get in the Holiday Spirit Visit the Special Olympics website to check out the "A Very Special Christmas 7" cd. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics 2010 Schedule We are working hard to get as much information as accessible as possible. Please stay tuned for further developments Event directors/committees- please provide event dates and locations as soon as possible so we can post the dates online | | | Conference | | | Thank you all to those who came out to the conference this past Saturday! It was a very productive day. Just a few reasons to come to the next conference: -you will receive information on upcoming events and have an opportunity to ask questions and receive paperwork -state games information including the demand case survey, deadlines and pre-games coaches meeting -have the opportunity to talk about the training club you are involved in -a lot of very important information regarding the Western Region is presented. EVERY training club should have at least one person to represent your training club | | Program Committee | | | What is the program committee? The program committee is a group of volunteers who work together to fulfill the mission of Special Olympics. Members bring their strengths and passions to determine any needs within the region, establish an action plan and assist in carrying it out. All plans and actions are created with the goal of creating the best possible experience for the athletes. All goals and action items are consistent with the mission and the advancement of the Regional Program. Members will have the ability and opportunity to provide the support to the region in a variety of functions. Some examples include: assisting with establishing the yearly calendar, creating new means of communication to reach out to athletes and families, providing ideas for volunteer recognition and identifying a training need and creating a curriculum to present at a seasonal conference to coaches and volunteers. Membership is at will and does not require a long term commitment. Meetings are typically held once a month at various locations throughout the Region. Anyone with the passion and commitment to Special Olympics is eligible!
