Greetings Coaches, Volunteers and Fans!
Welcome back to the Western Region Program Report.
Coming Up:
Tuesday September 1st - Chautauqua Lakers Local Golf Competition. Athletes will compete in skills and alternate shot.
Thursday September 3rd - B&L Golf Tournament, Cable Hollow Golf Club.
Deadlines:
Upstate Fall Classic
Registration is due no later than Friday Sept. 4th
Competition includes softball team and skills and soccer team and skills.
State Games
Registration is due no later than Wednesday Sept. 9th.
Participating Sports:
Equestrian, Bocce, Cycling, Golf, Cross-Country
All medical/consent forms must be up to date and on file in the Western Region office.
*ALL coaches attending state games MUST have a current coach certification. If you are unsure of your status please contact me.
HOD NOMINATIONS
The Western Region is soliciting nominations for the Head of Delegation for the coming State Fall Games. This person does not have to already be attending the games. The primary roles of the HOD is to assist with the check-in/out process, act as the primary contact person for the region for any news or announcements that need to be relayed. In the case of an emergency, the HOD will be available to assist by temporarily filling in for a coach.

Western Region Program Committee
The Program Committee would like to make an open invitation to attend our next scheduled meeting:
Date: Tuesday September 22nd at 4:30 PM
Location: Western Region Office
· Committee attendees have the ability and opportunity to provide support to the region in a variety of functions.

· The program committee is not a closed door committee. Committee membership is open to people who want to work to advance regional program and program goals. Membership is not necessarily annual and may be determined or driven by need and the sports season.

The Seasonal Winter Conference is currently scheduled for
Saturday, December 5th. Location/specifics TBD.
A general session will be provided along with a re-certification piece for coaches. This is a great opportunity to not only renew your certification but network and meet other coaches and volunteers.
FUNDRAISERS

Sponsor an athletetorch icon
The FLAME OF HOPE campaign is in full swing
Please help get the word out about this initiative. If you would like to purchase a torch icon you can visit one of the participating rental stores or contact the Western Region office.
A list of the participating centers in the Western Region can be found at the online file folder.
We are trying visit each of the centers to meet with the employees to thank them for their support. If you are interested in making a visit to a store with an athlete (or know of an athlete that would be available to travel with a staff person for a few hours) please contact me to make arrangements.
We have participating stores acroos the Western Region in: Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Jamestown, Dunkirk, Olean, Tonawanda, Cheektowaga and Salamanca.
Applebees
It's back! The Applebees Law & Orders will take place on Thursday, October 29th. The Applebees staff is always excited to work with the Law Enforcement Officials and put them to work to wait tables, greet customers, etc.
Our goal is to have at least one athlete at every participating Applebees location. The Law Enforcement Officials at each location look forward to meeting the athletes.
If you are interested in attending a certain Applebees with an athlete or know of an athlete to you feel would be a good host/hostess to greet customers, please contact me. Please pass along this information to athletes, parents, staff and volunteers.
Polar Plunge pplunge
The registration page is up and running! The 3rd Western Region Polar Plunge is being held Sunday, December 6th at the Hamburg Town Beach. We are hoping to make this year the most successful yet! On the registration page you can register yourself, your team or sponsor a plunger.
